Radiesse

Radiesse-tucsonInjectable Filler

Radiesse volumizing wrinkle filler can temporarily correct your facial lines and wrinkles. This injectable filler, made with calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres in a water-based gel, can restore youthful volume to your facial contours.

By injecting Radiesse beneath the surface of a wrinkle, Dr. Alfaro aids your skin in regaining its lost volumeā€”it acts as a sort of "scaffolding" for your skin. After Radiesse treatment, your skin will appear smoother and younger.

How Radiesse Works

In preparation for your treatment of Radiesse, your skin will be cleansed at the treatment site. To increase your comfort, a topical lidocaine may be applied prior to treatment. In some cases, the application of an ice pack may be adequate.

For your treatment, Dr. Alfaro will inject a specific amount of the Radiesse solution in the skin beneath the wrinkle. The techniques he most often uses for this include fanning, linear threading or crosshatching. This injection will yield an immediate correction and smoothing of the skin. For an ideal aesthetic result, Dr. Alfaro may gently massage the injection site to fully smooth it out. An ice pack may then be applied to your skin after treatment.

After your Radiesse treatment, you may experience some swelling or redness of the skin. The continued application of an ice pack can help control the swelling. These side effects are usually mild and do not last long. Keeping your head elevated will help them dissipate, as well.

For most patients who receive Radiesse treatments, the results last about one year. As the benefits of Radiesse begin to wear off and your body breaks down the filler, you may wish to return to Dr. Alfaro for touch-up treatments. These maintenance visits will help you keep up the smoother appearance of your face.

Radiesse is an injectable filler that restores facial volume to smooth out wrinkles and lines. When injected, it tells your body to stimulate collagen production. For many patients, the results last one year or longer.

How is Radiesse different?

What makes Radiesse unique is its ability to immediately restore lost volume while stimulating collagen production.

How does Radiesse work?

Radiesse replenishes volume in the skin. Then it stimulates your body to produce its own natural collagen. After a few months, your body absorbs Radiesse, leaving behind natural collagen, which prolongs the results.

How long does Radiesse last?

Results of Radiesse often last a year or longer.

What is Radiesse made of?

Radiesse contains tiny calcium-based microspheres that are suspended in a natural, water-based gel. Because these microspheres are similar to natural minerals in your body, allergy testing is not required.

What are the alternatives to Radiesse?

Alternatives to Radiesse include fillers made with hyaluronic acid and other materials. You could also choose a fat grafting treatment. Botulinum toxin (i.e. Botox or Dysport) can also improve wrinkles on the forehead and around the eyes.

What are possible side effects?

Just like any injection, patients can experience mild irritation, swelling, itching, redness, bruising or tenderness at the treated area(s). Side effects usually resolve without treatment. If side effects persist, contact your doctor.
