Prevelle Silk

Prevelle-tucsonInjectable Wrinkle Filler

If you'd like to reduce facial wrinkles and folds without surgery, we offer Prevelle Silk, a wrinkle filler made with hyaluronic acid.

Hyaluronic acid is an important hydrating component of the tissue that is naturally found in the human body.

Prevelle is a great product for patients who are new to injectable filler treatments. The results will not last as long as fillers like Radiesse, Juvederm or Restylane, and it contains lidocaine to enhance comfort.

How Prevelle Silk Works

Prior to your treatment with Prevelle Silk, your skin at the treatment site will be cleansed in preparation. No anesthetic is necessary for your Prevelle Silk treatment, as the solution contains lidocaine for your comfort. Using careful techniques that may include crosshatching, linear threading or fanning, Dr. Alfaro will inject a specific amount of the solution beneath the surface of the wrinkle. He may then massage the site to ensure proper placement of the product.

When you leave Dr. Alfaro's practice, it is not uncommon for the treatment site to feel overly full, as Prevelle Silk provides an immediate correction and volumizing effect for the skin. This will dissipate over the next couple of hours. On occasion, patients report experiencing swelling or redness following treatment, but these are generally short-lived. The application of an ice pack after treatment can help control any possible swelling.

The skin smoothing benefits of a Prevelle Silk treatment can last up to three months for many patients. As the effects of the solution wear off, you may choose to return to Dr. Alfaro's practice for follow-up treatments of Prevelle Silk.

Hyaluronic Acid FAQ

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in your body. High concentrations are found in soft connective tissues and in the fluid surrounding your eyes. It's also in some cartilage and joint fluids, as well as skin tissue. It is extracted and reformulated and now has become one of the most popular kinds of injectable fillers.

What conditions can be treated?

Hyaluronic acid injections can be used to improve the skin's contour and reduce depressions in the skin due to scars, injury or lines. You can see potentially dramatic improvements for acne scars, cheek depressions, crow's feet at the corner of your eyes, nasolabial furrows, frown lines, marionette lines, scars, smoker's lines, and forehead lines.

Who's a good candidate for hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid fillers are good for patients who want to improve their appearance temporarily. It's not a permanent solution and it won't stop the aging process. Some people opt to have these injections to delay the time when cosmetic surgery is more appropriate. It's a good choice for enhancing your appearance until you're ready for a permanent surgical option.

How does hyaluronic acid correct wrinkles?

When this gel is injected, it acts like an inflated cushion to support facial structures and tissues that may have lost volume or elasticity due to normal aging. It also brings water to the surface of skin to keep it looking fresh and supple.

How long do results last?

The injections last between three to five months, depending on your life style, body chemistry and the rate at which you are naturally aging. To maintain their youthful appearance, most people have new hyaluronic injections two to three times a year. If you decide not to re-treat, your appearance will return to its original condition. Wrinkles and scars will return, and plumped lips will lose volume.
