Juvederm®

juvederm tucsonInjectable Hyaluronic Acid Gel

Juvederm is a popular injectable wrinkle filler made with hyaluronic acid (HA). A key component of your skin, hyaluronic acid delivers necessary hydration and volume to the skin, which makes it appear more supple and smooth.

The results of Juvederm are temporary, because the HA is naturally broken down by the body. Juvederm is FDA approved for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. These may include nasolabial folds, lip lines, marionette lines, and other age-related imperfections.

During an appointment at our Tucson office, we can examine your skin and ask about your aesthetic goals. Based on this assessment, we can determine if Juvederm is right for you.

What to Expect During Juvederm Treatment

Inpatient / Outpatient Outpatient office procedure
Treatment time: 20 minutes
Recovery time: No downtime. Follow all post-treatment instructions

How Juvederm Works

Juvederm works with a simple injection. Beneath your skin, the hyaluronic acid in Juvederm binds with water and your natural HA, plumping up the skin.

Before injection, the skin at the treatment site will be cleansed. Using a special technique such as crosshatching, threading or fanning, your physician injects Juvederm into the targeted area. Because Juvederm contains the anesthetic lidocaine, a topical numbing cream is usually not necessary.

You'll see immediate correction after treatment, but the area may feel fuller than normal for a short time. The results of your Juvederm treatment will last up to one year, as the product is naturally broken down by your body. You can return to our Tucson office for touch up treatments as recommended by the doctor.

Hyaluronic Acid FAQ

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in your body. High concentrations are found in soft connective tissues and in the fluid surrounding your eyes. It's also in some cartilage and joint fluids, as well as skin tissue. It is extracted and reformulated and now has become one of the most popular kinds of injectable fillers.

What conditions can be treated?

Hyaluronic acid injections can be used to improve the skin's contour and reduce depressions in the skin due to scars, injury or lines. You can see potentially dramatic improvements for acne scars, cheek depressions, crow's feet at the corner of your eyes, nasolabial furrows, frown lines, marionette lines, scars, smoker's lines, and forehead lines.

Who's a good candidate for hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid fillers are good for patients who want to improve their appearance temporarily. It's not a permanent solution and it won't stop the aging process. Some people opt to have these injections to delay the time when cosmetic surgery is more appropriate. It's a good choice for enhancing your appearance until you're ready for a permanent surgical option.

How does hyaluronic acid correct wrinkles?

When this gel is injected, it acts like an inflated cushion to support facial structures and tissues that may have lost volume or elasticity due to normal aging. It also brings water to the surface of skin to keep it looking fresh and supple.

How long do results last?

The injections last between three to five months, depending on your life style, body chemistry and the rate at which you are naturally aging. To maintain their youthful appearance, most people have new hyaluronic injections two to three times a year. If you decide not to re-treat, your appearance will return to its original condition. Wrinkles and scars will return, and plumped lips will lose volume.
